This is a throwback to one of my shoots in early spring. Yes, spring with snow.
Lily & Wayne had such celebrated their wedding in Okinawa and were traveling in Japan after that. I met up with them in Hakuba, Nagano for their post wedding portraits shoot.
It was definitely one of the coldest day in spring and we definitely were not expected such cold wintery weather. It’s always challenging shooting in such cold weather but having such fun clients always make the shoot so much more enjoyable!
It was my first time shooting in Hakuba but Lily & Wayne were so easy going and open. When they told me, “Knowing us, we’ll have fun where ever we are, “ I knew it was going to be a great shoot. Having beautiful locations is of course one of the reasons why clients choose to do shoots in Japan, but without fun and chemistry, a pretty picture will be an empty one.
Kai met us the day before; having not ever been to Hakuba, she had driven around for a couple of hours prior to meeting with us to find the best spots to photograph. She had an immediate sense of where and when to shoot (lighting, time of day, what kind of weather) and braved the freezing cold (-2 degrees) with us for the entire photoshoot! The photos turned out great and we've got memories to last us a lifetime. - Lily & Wayne
